On December 9, Garen Nazarian, Armenia’s non-resident Ambassador to the Portuguese Republic, handed over his credentials to H.E. President Marcelo Nuno Duarte Rebelo de Souza.

At the official ceremony, Ambassador Nazarian conveyed the greetings of the President and Prime Minister of Armenia to the Portuguese Head of State and assured him that he will exert maximum effort to raise the interstate relations to a qualitatively new level.

President Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, wished the ambassador much success and asked him to pass on warm greetings to the friendly people and high authorities of Armenia. The president greatly emphasized the important role of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation created by a world-famous philanthropist of Armenian origin in strengthening bilateral ties.

Portuguese high-ranking officials, including State Secretary for European Affairs Ana Paula Zacarias, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Alvaro Mendonça e Moura, and representatives of the President's Office attended the ceremony held at the National Belem Palace, the residence of the President of the Republic.
